This is the sun descending behind the mountains in far west Texas at 6:14 pm (actual sunset 7:08 pm) on October 31, 2020.
"Ringing the tiny bell with thoughts of those departed, including (Brenda’s) dad, my folks, and all those grieving a loved one".
– Alyce Santoro
was the 13th year in an ongoing project, dedicated to the observation of the sun at every crossing of the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others (i.e. ring a bell). This year's invitation was for others to witness and share a sunrise or sunset each month. With the onset of covid19, came the mandate to shelter in place. Knowing that we would be at home each evening, we decided to ring a LOUD bell every sunset, marking the day's end to anyone within earshot.
