was the 13th year in an ongoing project, dedicated to the observation of the sun at every crossing of the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others (i.e. ring a bell). This year's invitation was for others to witness and share a sunrise or sunset each month. With the onset of covid19, came the mandate to shelter in place. Knowing that we would be at home each evening, we decided to ring a LOUD bell every sunset, marking the day's end to anyone within earshot.

do you hear what I think I hear?
September 24, 2020. Sunset 6:48 PM. Brooklyn, NY.
The fan is running all the time here to create some version of positive air pressure in my room. It may my imagination, but I thought the bells sounded a bit modified by the fan- the way your voice sounds when you sing in front of a fan. Maybe, maybe not?
