Tonight was the first time this felt like a mundane necessity- like getting the mail or putting out the
trash. Our nearest neighbors nod or wave as they go about their own business - silently incorporating our routine into theirs. It felt very comfortable. Ordinary.

was the 13th year in an ongoing project, dedicated to the observation of the sun at every crossing of the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others (i.e. ring a bell). This year's invitation was for others to witness and share a sunrise or sunset each month. With the onset of covid19, came the mandate to shelter in place. Knowing that we would be at home each evening, we decided to ring a LOUD bell every sunset, marking the day's end to anyone within earshot.
