was the 13th year in an ongoing project, dedicated to the observation of the sun at every crossing of the horizon and to sharing the awareness of that moment with others (i.e. ring a bell). This year's invitation was for others to witness and share a sunrise or sunset each month. With the onset of covid19, came the mandate to shelter in place. Knowing that we would be at home each evening, we decided to ring a LOUD bell every sunset, marking the day's end to anyone within earshot.

Two sunsets for the Solstice: June 20th was the actual Solstice this year (Leap Day inserted that extra day in there). June 21st is the traditional celebration for the Garden of Memory ordinarily held at the Chapel of the Chimes. Everyone was invited to ring and sing in place this year, connecting through our collective memory and present virtual community observation.
